  • Phone Link on Windows 11 was a hotly anticipated feature.
  • However, according to a recent report, there are concerns regarding this tool.
  • The report says that cyberstalkers could find a way to jailbreak its security measures.

Are you using Phone Link for iPhone on Windows 11? If so, we’ve got some bad news – this time, it includes cyber threats that you could potentially face from this app.

In a recent report, concerns have been raised regarding Microsoft’s newly introduced Phone Link feature in Windows 11, which could potentially provide a backdoor for cyberstalkers to spy on iPhones.

The feature, initially designed to connect Android phones to PCs via a Wi-Fi connection, has now been expanded to include iOS devices, allowing iPhone users to view notifications on their Windows computers.

Certo Software, an app developer, has expressed concerns over possible security lapses that could be leveraged by cyberstalkers to track and monitor iPhone users without their knowledge.

The ease with which potential cyberstalkers can set up the app on someone else’s iPhone, coupled with the lack of clear indications that data is being shared, raises significant privacy concerns. This could potentially enable cyberstalkers with physical access to an iPhone to establish Phone Link connections with their own Windows PCs and gain unauthorized access to iMessage and phone call information, all while remaining undetected by the victim.

So, how does this threat work, you may ask? Here, we’ll explain more about this:

While iPhones are generally recognized for their robust security measures, this recent revelation highlights the potential risk associated with this new feature.

The process of setting up Phone Link is relatively straightforward for cyber stalkers. By scanning a QR code displayed on their Windows PC, stalkers can establish a Bluetooth connection with the victim’s iPhone. Subsequently, enabling a few options on the targeted phone allows them to begin sharing information with their PC.

Once the connection is established, the Phone Link app on the PC grants cyberstalkers access to various iPhone functionalities, including viewing sent and received iMessages, sending messages to contacts, accessing call history, making calls, and viewing the contents of all notifications.

With that being said, however, it’s important to note that cyberstalkers can only view iMessage history after setting up Phone Link and cannot access messages sent or received prior to the setup.

What do you think about this security threat that helps cyberstalkers spying on your iPhones through Phone Link for on Windows 11 ? Let us know in the comments!
