Microsoft is vigilant when it comes to the security of its systems, and the company is collaborating with the Federal government to boost its security.

This collaboration should bring free and extensive logging to government agencies thus helping officials find any exploits and vulnerabilities on their networks.

Microsoft will help the US government by providing free and advanced logging

Microsoft and its services are often targets of cyberattacks, and recently there was malware that was spreading via Windows Installer. Since many organizations are using Microsoft’s infrastructure, it’s no surprise that the company is ready to help them address any security issues.

According to WinBuzzer, Microsoft is working with the Federal government to enhance its security. Per the agreement, Microsoft will enable extensive logs on customer accounts and double the log retention period to 180 days.

This will provide additional telemetry data and allow agencies to meet the necessary logging requirements without any additional charges or configuration.

We can’t say we’re surprised by this change, especially since hackers were able to access government emails without being detected, for the most part.

Agencies that had Microsoft’s Purview Audit Premium were able to identify the attack, and this is the reason why CISA is forcing Microsoft to change its policies.

Following this change, the company will provide access to enhanced logging with no additional cost to detect breaches such as this more effectively in the future.

Speaking of security issues, Microsoft is using AI to combat cyberattacks, and hopefully, that will be enough to keep its infrastructure secure.
