  • Microsoft introduces Attack Simulation Training (AST) in Microsoft Defender for Office 365.
  • It reaffirms Microsoft’s commitment to strengthening security measures.
  • High-ranking organizations and businesses can simulate real-world cyberattacks and enhance security awareness.

Microsoft is rolling out a powerful new tool called Attack Simulation Training (AST) in Microsoft Defender for Office 365, specifically designed for the GCC High environment.

The addition of AST feature, identified by Feature ID 124854, was officially added to the Microsoft 365 Defender for Office 365 roadmap on May 15, 2023.

This intelligent risk reduction feature enables customers to simulate realistic attack scenarios within their organization, identify vulnerable users, and drive behavior change through a comprehensive security awareness training program.

The AST feature will be accessible through the web platform, ensuring ease of use and accessibility for users in the GCC High environment. Following extensive development and testing, it has now entered the General Availability phase, signifying its readiness for deployment.

In simple terms, when we use cloud services, a could provider’s servers manage and store our data and applications. Microsoft is one of them.

However, not all organizations have the same security and compliance needs. Government agencies, for example, handle sensitive information and have strict regulations they must follow to ensure data protection.

So, Attack Simulation Training equips these orgs in the GCC High with the ability to simulate various types of cyberattacks, such as phishing attempts or malicious email campaigns. All these scenarios are monitored within a controlled environment.

By running these realistic attack scenarios, businesses can identify areas of vulnerability and better understand potential weaknesses in their security infrastructure.

This new tool not only focuses on identifying vulnerabilities but also aims to drive behavior change among employees through an integrated security awareness training program.

What do you think about the introduction of attack simulation training on Microsoft 365 by Windows Defender for the GCC High environment? Let us know in the comments!
