  • Microsoft is reportedly working on a new toggle on Edge.
  • As spotted, the option lets you donate to a charitable org through Microsoft Rewards.
  • It’s not the first attempt done by the tech giant in recent years.

Just like what they did by revamping thumbnails for Favorites on Edge, Microsoft is also reportedly working on a feature that lets you donate easier on Edge through Microsoft Rewards.

According to a recent discovery by Windows insider @Leopeva64 on Twitter, Microsoft aims to provide users with an effortless way to support charitable causes using their accumulated rewards points. You can find the toggle for this donation feature within the Privacy, search, and Services tab in the Settings app.

We will automatically identify when nonprofit sites you visit can be supported with Microsoft Rewards points or cash donations.

This suggests that Microsoft is taking steps to seamlessly integrate the donation process into users’ online experiences.

Microsoft Rewards is a loyalty program that allows users to earn points by using various Microsoft services and products. You can redeem these points for a range of rewards, including gift cards, discounts, and now potential donations.

While Microsoft is yet to unveil details about the specific nonprofit sites and organizations that will be eligible for donations through the Rewards points, this development signifies Microsoft’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and fostering a culture of giving back.

Microsoft Rewards: Redmond’s ongoing efforts to simplify donations

Microsoft has made previous efforts to encourage donations through its Rewards program, demonstrating a commitment to charitable initiatives. This small update on Edge wasn’t the first attempt.

Back in 2020, Microsoft introduced the Give with Bing initiative, allowing users to donate their Microsoft Rewards points to over a million non-profit organizations. The initiative was available in several countries, including the US, UK, Canada, and Australia.

According to Microsoft, the Give with Bing initiative successfully raised over $12 million for these organizations during that time. By facilitating the donation of rewards points, the tech giant offers users an opportunity to support charitable causes seamlessly.
