However, ads can be found in other sections of the app.
- Ads and news are gone from the apps’ homepage
- The ads and news were introduced a while ago on the Weather app
- The majority of the users want the old Weather app version back
Another week, another update from Microsoft. This time, though, it’s about the Weather app. A while ago, the Windows 11 Weather app got a new design. However, despite the beautiful interface and the brand-new home screen, it seemed MSN News was also featured on the app.
The feature quickly became an issue, as users were not really pleased with it. Even more, the News feed was questionable, as the topics had nothing to do with the weather, but were focused on celebrity gossip, tabloid issues, and other dubious content.
However, it seems that Microsoft has seen the outrage and now the Windows 11 Weather ads were removed after users’ loud feedback. Spotted by this Windows enthusiast, it seems that the app completely drops ads and news from its homepage.
Time to celebrate? Well, not really. At least, not yet. It seems that ads are not entirely out of the Weather app. According to another Reddit user, you can still find them when you visit other sections. It’s safe to say, the Weather app is not out of the woods yet.
Windows 11 Weather app vs. Windows 10 Weather app
For many users, the new version of the Weather app just doesn’t look good. For others, it lacks the simple and efficient design of the old version. The majority, however, agree that the old version is better from every perspective.
It gets to the point, it delivers weather information in a coherent way, the design actually makes it easy to follow along, and the overall experience using this app is so much simpler.
So, can you somehow revert the Windows 11 Weather app back to the old version? Officially, not. You can’t do it.
However, Microsoft is keen on listening to the feedback, and in this case, the Redmond giant has actually implemented some of it. It seems that there is general negative feedback on the whole app, from the way it looks, to the way it pops up ads and news.
So it’s safe to say that Microsoft will update it in the future according to the feedback and probably, even release an option to roll back to a previous version. We will follow along with this topic and we will keep you updated in case it happens.
