- The Teams attendance report will be added to the platform in October.
- The report will offer organizers and managers details on reactions, raised hands, cameras turned on, and more.
- Could it be used to measure employees’ performance?
Microsoft Teams will get a new feature that enables meeting organizers to view meeting engagement data such as total reactions, raised hands, cameras turned on, and more details, according to the latest addition to the Microsoft 365 roadmap.
Managers and organizers will be able to see these details in the Attendance tab after a Teams meeting is over. The new report will be useful for organizations to keep track of employers, and build plans of action for those that couldn’t attend the meeting in a proper way.
The feature is scheduled to roll out in October 2023 to desktop versions of Microsoft Teams. However, for now, it will only be available to Premium users.
While it might be too soon to say so, this new feature will gather up all the details that sum up an employee’s interaction within a Teams meeting: if they had the camera/mic off, if they had any reactions to what’s been said, if they used emojis or raised hands to ask questions, and so on.
It’s too soon to say anything about this feature, but it can be used to track an employee’s performance and social interaction in a Teams meeting. Is it good or not good? Well, it’s ambiguous. While some might agree to the points made in the meeting, others will not, and a manager will be able to see that, after the meeting, and possibly draw conclusions.
In a way, this feature will somehow force all employees to interact within the Teams meeting, or at least, show a level of interaction.
However, it’s still too soon to draw a conclusion about the goal of this feature. It might be just a tool to make sure the right persons are on the right Teams meeting.
The Teams attendance report might turn out to be a very useful feature, but time will tell.
