Rockstar’s greatly anticipated GTA VI reveal went down on Monday with a press release alongside the game’s first trailer. What we know going from the trailer is that the game will feature a female protagonist named Lucia, a first for the series.
Also confirmed in this first teaser is confirmation that the game will see a return to a familiar franchise locale: Vice City. As per the press release, “Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet.”
The post also states that Grand Theft Auto VI will come to Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 in 2025. Interestingly, there’s no mention of a PC version. PC gamers shouldn’t be too alarmed however, as the previous two mainline GTA releases eventually came to PC, albeit months after their console releases (the same can be said for Red Dead Redemption 2, which took over a year to finally get a PC port).
And there’s always the possibility that a concurrent PC launch could still be announced sometime later, with more than a year to go until GTA VI arrives. When it does, this newest entry in Rockstar’s flagship franchise promises to be a groundbreaking experience according to Rockstar Games founder Sam Houser,
Grand Theft Auto VI continues our efforts to push the limits of what’s possible in highly immersive, story-driven open-world experiences,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “We’re thrilled to be able to share this new vision with players everywhere.”
