OnePlus 12

Big news for Android mobile users this week, as OnePlus unveiled the new OnePlus 12, which will be available starting December 5 in China, reportedly, with a wide release in January 2024. The new device comes just one year from its previous version, OnePlus 11, deemed by many the best Android flagship value smartphone on the market.

As of now, OnePlus 11 is still adored by many, and it’s seen as a worthy competitor to new devices such as iPhone 15, and Pixel 8. OnePlus 12 is not really that different, and aside from a specs upgrade and a leaner, more colorful design, the device doesn’t seem that much of an improvement over the OnePlus 11.

However, this is just based on a first look and the rumored specs, which we will list below. In the end, the OnePlus 12 could turn out to be even better than the OnePlus 11, which would be a nice surprise for all.

Similar to the OnePlus 11, the new OnePlus 12 will come in three colors: marble green, glossy white, and smooth black. Regarding specs, we don’t have anything concrete right now but there are some rumors online about them. People will be able to choose from a variety of versions, each coming with different specs.

Below you can find a comparative list between the rumoured specs for the OnePlus 12, according to the folks over at Tom’s Guide, and the current specs for OnePlus 11. Here’s what we know about the new OnePlus 12 so far.

OnePlus 12 does not bring much to the table, but it could make the OnePlus 11 more affordable

It’s still way too early to call an end to the formidable OnePlus 11. The device is not even 1 year old, and while its successor, OnePlus 12, has already been announced, the OnePlus 11 is still a very good choice for a new phone in 2023, and now, 2024, as well.

Many Android lovers share the same feelings. On Reddit, the OnePlus 12 announcement was met with a positive reception, and many were excited about one thing, in particular: if OnePlus 12 is coming, then OnePlus 11 will be more affordable.

Here I am waiting for 12 to launch so I can buy 11 at lower prices.

It’s easy to see why people would want to buy OnePlus 11: the new version might be a bit buffed, but it’s not exactly groundbreaking if we are to take into consideration the rumored specs. Aside from a different chipset, the other specs are not really that impressive. OnePlus 12

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 achieves a medium of 3.2GHz, while the Gen 2 is “only” achieving a medium of 2.8GHz. Gen 3 is 20% more efficient than Gen 2, and that is not so much. It can still hold on to various demanding activities. Gen 3 is also an Arm-designed chipset and only supports 64-bit apps. Gen 2, on the other hand, will be the last of its kind to support 32-bit apps, so that’s another fact to consider.

The other specs are more or less similar. The storage space, sure, it’s bigger on the new device, but so will the price. As reports claim OnePlus 12 will have a starting price of $699, a full maxed version could easily cost around $899, or even $999.

On the other hand, a OnePlus 11 could go down to $559, or maybe even a $499 price in the following months.

Considering the OnePlus 11 is on a bar with the iPhone 15 or Pixel 8, we can definitely see the excitement. It makes sense.
